Hey everyone, we have a big origins update here. We have a desire to make the origins more unique, so we've put some things in place to help with this. Monks and Samurai now each train two of their fighting styles at a rate of half-off. This, however, only applies while the monks or samurai do not learn any fighting styles outside of the origin. If they learn a fighting style outside of their origin, they will have to learn the discounted fighting styles at regular price.
In addition, it is now harder to learn fighting styles outside of your origin. In order to do so, you will have to pay 1000 CP (does not count towards your ACP) at the time that you are learning a minor of a fighting style outside of your origin. In the case of monks and samurai, this also means they lose any benefits they had for being "pure" to their origin (in this case, they lose the fighting style discounts, and will be required to pay the difference that they had previously saved).
Sohei and Iaido, as origin-exclusive techniques, now have a small CP cost of 100 (does not count towards your ACP) in order to be learned by people outside of the techniques' origin.
In addition to all of this, samurai were always weaker than monks, since monks got a unique fighting style that samurai did not. To balance this, samurai now receive a set of mastercrafted daisho with an ability (must be registered and approved) to represent their lineage as master swordsmen.
You can read more about the monk and samurai changes
here and more about the general Fighting Style learning changes
here.
All characters who presently know a fighting style outside their origin will be required to pay the 1000 CP cost, or they may lose that fighting style and have the CP refunded. All currently existing "pure" monks and samurai now have the price of their respective discounted fighting styles reduced, meaning they will have some extra CP lying around. Lucky you.
Hail and Well Met,
Austin
