We have added clarified guidelines to the crafting rules about what can or cannot be registered as items of the various crafting tiers. The post explaining these changes can be found here.

Hey all,

We've made a small update to the Character Application Template and the Update Request Template.

Character Application Template - We've added an extra line. Alongside "Spent Character Points", "Unspent Character Points", and "Total Character Points", we've added "Active Character Points" as well. This was to curb some confusion people were having about whether Spent Character Points meant Active or just whatever you spent(meaning it would have included things such as clan training or jutsu). If your application has already been approved, don't worry about it-- you should be fine without having to edit anything. This will just make applications easier to look at and fill out for future applications. You can look at the new template here.

Update Request Template - Awkwardly, the sections for ACP, UCP, and TCP were not listed in the same order as on the Character Application Template. This has been changed to match them to avoid confusion from different formats. If you have a copy of the coding posted into your update topic, I suggest you edit in the new one to avoid any future confusion. You can look at the new template here.

That's all for now.

Patch Notes (10/24):

Fame and Infamy has been updated. We've changed the requirement from having to kill an opponent for fame to having to completely defeat them, instead. We've also added and changed up a few rewards in addition to refining the flavor text for those rewards. A few phrasings are also updated for clarity and to clarify staff's stance on certain rules. Identifying Missing Nin based on Wisdom has been slightly tweaked to make more sense and to make points spent in Wisdom more rewarding for these purposes.

Advanced Elements have been updated. Purchasing Advanced Elements from a KKG now always costs 500 CP and does *not* count toward the increasing costs of purchasing elements. Purchasing an Advanced Element could more simply be considered as a separate purchase from regular elements.

Reminders: the Halloween Event is still on, so there's still a chance for your treat... or trick! Cash in on that. Also, the end of the day on October 27 is your last day to claim your FREE 500 CP for creating a character; don't miss out!

Lastly, an important event has called Kage from each village to send a strong combatant out to claim a valuable asset. Stay tuned for this event and *your* chance to participate in future adventures!

In response to everyone's wishes for an easier way of calculating chakra(what with our old percentage table having gotten broken), Rivu has created for us a "Chakra Cruncher" spreadsheet similar to the Character Cruncher. We have updated it into The second post in the Attributes Rules Section, right in the Stamina Guide.

Alternatively, here is a link to the Chakra Cruncher itself.

Follow the instructions as described on the document.

Hello everyone. We have decided to implement a Restricted Loan List, allowing everyone to have access to at least one powerful, restricted technique at a time. Everyone will be able to choose one thing from the list to receive, which you will then claim in an update. Everyone has been put into a turn order decided at random. I'll message you when it's your turn to pick! It can be found here.

In addition to this, we have implemented Restricted Points. You have 20 of them, and the total amount of techniques you have that cost Restricted Points cannot exceed 20. This is to ensure that fun and powerful things do not snowball out of control on one character.

Hail and Well Met,

Austin

To some confusion about Jinchurikii/Bijuu and who should know - Wisdom has been edited. Proficient Wisdom is needed to know what a Bijuu is. Knowing who is the Jinchurikii of what bijuu though depends on your Kage and the Jinchurikii (unless the Jinchurikii becomes famous through fame). Talk to them before risking metagame.

We've clarified a restriction on loaning out bijuu to villages in an effort to keep them evenly distributed among all of the villages. You can find these changes here in the Loans topic. Specifically, look towards the second Disclaimer in the first post, as well as the newly created third post.

A few updates this time:
  • Crafting a mastercrafted item now no longer grants fame. This was changed to prevent fame hoarding.
  • Similarly to how the person who crafted a weapon receives fame for killing blows with their weapon, the craftsman for a poison now receives fame from those killed by their poisons.
  • We've added a fame reward for saving lives via antidotes. If someone is inflicted with a deadly poison and you cure them, the craftsman of that antidote receives 25% of the survivor's renown.
  • Crafting no longer provides CP for solo-posting. We felt this contradictory to the point of how CP is normally collected(through interaction with others).

Changes to fame/infamy can be seen on the fame page here: http://www.thenaruto-rpg.com/viewtopic. ... 068#p91068

The change to solo-crafting giving CP can be seen here: http://www.thenaruto-rpg.com/viewtopic. ... 73#p132673

We have updated the Fate Point rewards. In an effort to make Fate better, in addition to removing overly-complicated scenarios resulting from previous interpretations of the 3-fate point rule, we have combined the 1 and 3 Fate Point options into a single 2 Point option. This new ability lets you avoid, tank, or survive an attack, lethal or non-lethal, without exhausting yourself. It's a simple one-and-done magic tool. You can read more about it here.

We've made slight alterations to the Character Point Perk list. It came to our attention that some of the numbers were a bit wonky-- Chuunin for example start with jutsu up to C-Rank in their fighting styles and elements, but had enough CP to learn B-Ranks without word count anyway. There were a couple cases of that, which we've cleared up with the new listings.

No worries-- if you already learned any techniques for no word count and this change now puts you below the TCP number you would have have now needed, you can keep them. This change only impacts future training.

You can check out the changes here.

Hey everyone,

Along with the recent Fate change, everyone is allowed to redistribute their m/f/w points once in their character update app. until the 14th November, 2017. Changes won't be permitted after the allotted time has passed.

So,

Until recently, the wording of certain rules had been unclear as to whether or not you could create a technique for which you did not possess the Fighting Style, but your Origin would otherwise allow you to learn. Though the intent, after the restart, had been to allow players to register techniques of ranks B and lower for characters, so long as their Origin allowed them to learn techniques of that Fighting Style, that is no longer the case.

You now are required to possess the Fighting Style appropriate to any customs you wish to create. Those affected by this change (i.e. those that possess customs of a Fighting Style they do not possess, or those who had planned around making them) may, until the 14th November, 2017, change the arrangement of their Fighting Styles by posting an update in the update thread of any characters for which they seek to make changes. Changes won't be permitted after the allotted time has passed. Those who do not wish to rearrange their Fighting Styles to appropriately encompass customs they have registered do not need to do so, but note here that any customs not accounted for in your changes will be retroactively denied, in accordance with this clarification.

Thanks for your time, and sorry for the inconvenience.

A change has been made to wording in order to clarify a rule. Tracking is meant to be either Masterful (referred to as base Tracking) or your natural, not-boosted, bought-with-CP Agility or Dexterity (referred to as natural Tracking). This can then be modified by appropriate Tracking increases such as the Sharingan or certain Fighting Styles.

Thank you for your continued patience and support.

Good afternoon, everyone. We've made some clarifications on jutsu updates, specifically what "Learning all jutsu up to X-rank" means. For most of you, you probably thought it worked this way already, so it's no change for you. You can see the clarification here.

Obandesu.

There's been a (somewhat delayed) rectification to Summon Rules in accordance with having handed out the Toad, Snake, and Slug Contracts as part of the Restricted Loan System's implementation. Senjutsu is no longer a Contract Ability, so those registering the three contracts no longer have to register them with one fewer CA than other contracts. As was stated during the draft, the three contracts' owners still do not have access to Sage Mode or senjutsu.

Not that there's much to read about the change, but (in case you had forgotten) Summon Rules are here.

Thanks and say┼Źnara.

Nature Clan has been updated. There can only exist 2 Jugo Clan people at a time, and they must be registered in separate villages. This is how it has always worked but for the restart it was slipped up in the registration and has now been clarified. Thank.

We've decided to cut all CP gains from posts done exclusively through a clone in half. This was done to prevent excessive CP gain through sending out tons of clones to do multiple tasks at once. Now, if you have a clone out doing a mission, they will net you only 10 CP per post, as opposed to the normal 20.

NOTE: To be fair to all parties currently doing topics through clones, any topics currently in progress are not affected by this rule. Any topics created after this post, however, come under the new rule's effect.

You can see the implemented change here.

As a rules clarification, ALL canon techs are effected by diminishing returns according to the rules here unless explicitly stated otherwise. One notable exception are Styles (Goken, Arhat, etc..) do no diminish past a minor advantage as to always give at least something when used.

Hey y'all, big updates incoming.

If any of you have looked at the Kuchiyose FS or the Summoning Registration Template topic today, you might have noticed the change while I was posting it earlier, but haven't gotten around to the announcement until now. That said, I encourage you all to look over the fully edited changes listed below for your convenience.

  • While summons themselves have not been changed in how they function, we have changed various aspects about how to summon them, how many you can have out at once, etc.
  • The first thing you'll want to look at is the Summon Template Topic. Within it, we have added two new sections: "SUMMON LIMITATIONS" and "USAGE OF MULTIPLE SUMMONS". You may read over them for the full scope of the change, but tl;dr, a Kuchiyose user can no longer summon companions with more SP than their own TCP, and Kuchiyose users have a cap on how much SP they can have summoned at any one time.
  • On the same Summon Template Topic, we've made some clarifications on how swarm summons in the "Minor" category functions in light of the new cap on active SP out at any time. You'll find it listed at the end of that section.
  • In light of the Kuchiyose changes above, we have added an extra benefit to Majors and Specialists of the Kuchiyose Fighting Style. Now, being a Major increases your cap described above by 1,000, while a Specialist gets their cap lifted by 2,000. These changes can be seen in the Fighting Styles, Crafting, and Origin Information Topic.

As a result of these large changes to the fighting style, those with Kuchiyose are allowed to make small adjustments to their character should they want to increase or decrease their Kuchiyose level.

Hey everyone,

Along with the recent Kuchiyose FS change, everyone is allowed to make small changes to their FS (whether that be reclaiming the CP invested or lowering the rank, once in their character update app.) Until the 2nd of March, 2018. Changes won't be permitted after the allotted time has passed.

Thanks!

Howdy, folks.

Though I had imagined myself pulling through and finishing the whole thing single-handedly in a night, I seem to be unable to complete the process before sleep's beckon will become irresistible.

As such, you'll all get a glance into the inner workings of a formatting update mid-process. Where before there were multiple threads on a single rule, there now may only be one. Where before, a rule was stated once in one thread, it may now be referenced multiple times.

Over the course of tomorrow (and perhaps the remainder of the weekend, if I'm particularly slow about it) the update will be made complete. In the meantime, please don't mind the mess.

As always, if you have any confusion about anything at all, don't be afraid to ask Keiri.

Yours gourdially, the BoD.

Unless you're upset. Austin's in charge of that all on his own.

March 3rd, 2018
Hey everyone, we have a big origins update here. We have a desire to make the origins more unique, so we've put some things in place to help with this. Monks and Samurai now each train two of their fighting styles at a rate of half-off. This, however, only applies while the monks or samurai do not learn any fighting styles outside of the origin. If they learn a fighting style outside of their origin, they will have to learn the discounted fighting styles at regular price.

In addition, it is now harder to learn fighting styles outside of your origin. In order to do so, you will have to pay 1000 CP (does not count towards your ACP) at the time that you are learning a minor of a fighting style outside of your origin. In the case of monks and samurai, this also means they lose any benefits they had for being "pure" to their origin (in this case, they lose the fighting style discounts, and will be required to pay the difference that they had previously saved).

Sohei and Iaido, as origin-exclusive techniques, now have a small CP cost of 100 (does not count towards your ACP) in order to be learned by people outside of the techniques' origin.

In addition to all of this, samurai were always weaker than monks, since monks got a unique fighting style that samurai did not. To balance this, samurai now receive a set of mastercrafted daisho with an ability (must be registered and approved) to represent their lineage as master swordsmen.

You can read more about the monk and samurai changes here and more about the general Fighting Style learning changes here.

All characters who presently know a fighting style outside their origin will be required to pay the 1000 CP cost, or they may lose that fighting style and have the CP refunded. All currently existing "pure" monks and samurai now have the price of their respective discounted fighting styles reduced, meaning they will have some extra CP lying around. Lucky you.

Hail and Well Met,

Austin
