Despite not really having much conversation time prior to this, given Three's protective nature regarding Two, Zenitsu felt a kinship with the boy that made him empathetic to his situation. Truthfully he was tempted to ignore Three's plans and just do as he liked traveling around Two as wanderers, but he knew that the plan was the safest course. And safety triumphed anything else.
Two's comment made Zenitsu smile. Thirteen was glad that he seemed to understand. "Correct."
The two bumped knuckles, the light collision making a small bang sound as they showed their solidarity. When he expressed some concern about his abilities to act, Zenitsu gave a light chuckle. "In my opinion the best way to lie is tell only the truth. Lies of omission are easier to fib than lies of distortion. We'll tell them some of our truth, and tell it in a way that will hopefully keep them from poking us further. Given a major village just imploded, they may not have enough energy and thought to examine us thoroughly."
As the two kept walking Zenitsu chuckled again. "Like I said try to keep your power contained. If you come off as too strong then they'll look at you closer. Your only advantage is that shinobi your age are rarely so immensely skilled. They won't even know what they're looking at if you conceal yourself, but rather put their attention on me because I'm the older one. If they find out your stronger than me we might have a harder time telling our story."
The thought of future culinary delights seemed to be the only thing keeping them distracted from the reality of their situation. Hopefully hiding as refugees inside of Kirigakure wouldn't be as difficult as he hypothesized.
"I'll do most of the talking unless they separate us, but basically I'm going to tell them my past and then explain Kumogakure's situation to them. 'Kumogakure has fallen, so instead we've come to the Hidden Mist for shelter.' We'll offer them our services in exchange for fair compensation and from there enter the village.
If they split us up for separate questioning though, well I can't tell you how to lie by omission since I don't know your actual truth myself. Just obviously omit the stuff regarding Three and anything else you figure could endanger you, me, and everyone we know. And obviously we should be giving them our real names to further solidify our identities. If they think we're lying about something as basic as that they'll suspect everything we say is false and keep more surveillance on us than we'd like.
The only real 'lie' here is the fib that we're brothers. But even that is only a lie depending on your point of view."
And by this point they had reached their destination, where they would be able to find passage towards a boat, that would head towards the Land of Water....
