Finishing off the remaining forces was a simple task, though by the end Hayate found himself pummeling the corpses into a red past. His handler brought him back to the present, luckily Mayuri was able to find a less obliterated corpse to bring back proof of the completed mission. “Yes, of course.”
Having been so blinded by his rage and power flowing through him Hayate had quite easily lost himself in the battle, something that couldn’t be allowed to happen when fighting real shinobi. But still, the mark on his shoulder felt a tad lighter than normal after his killing spree, perhaps he had progressed another notch with the tool he was slowly learning to wield. While it still drew power from him on a constant basis he felt more in control here then he did when fighting the twins a couple of weeks ago, which meant he was definitely making progress.
Mayuri sang additional praise of his ability to handle the potent seal, the recognition bringing an unusual amount of gratification. Hayate was never one to seek out the approval of others, but that all changed once he’d met this strange and intoxicating individual. The attention of Mayuri was quickly becoming a higher and higher priority to him, so once it was mentioned that he would be allowed back into the lab to see the undying boy a bubble of happiness welled up inside him. Hayate was careful not to express this sense of joy on his face, as different as he may feel around this man he wasn’t too keen on displaying it all.
With the mission all set and done the two made their way back to the village, hoping that the first stop would be to the lab where the boy was supposed to be. Not sure if his desire would be met with good reception, though if anyone were to tolerate his desires it would certainly be Mayuri.
